Slack

Integrate Worklenz with Slack to receive project and task notifications directly in your Slack channels. This integration allows your team to stay informed and interact with tasks without leaving Slack.

How to connect your Slack workspace

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Locate the Slack integration card and click Connect Slack Workspace.
  3. You will be redirected to the Slack authorization screen.
  4. Select your Slack workspace and click Allow.
  5. You will be redirected back to Worklenz with a success message. The integration card will now show a Connected status with your workspace name.

How to disconnect

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Click the Manage or Disconnect button on the Slack integration card.
  3. Confirm the disconnection.

Configure notifications (Settings page)

Once connected, you can link Worklenz projects to Slack channels and choose which events trigger notifications.

  1. Click Manage on the Slack integration card.
  2. Click Add Configuration.
  3. Select a Worklenz project from the dropdown.
  4. Select a Slack channel from the dropdown (public and private channels where the bot is added).
  5. Select the notification types you want to receive (e.g., Task Created, Task Assigned, Status Changed).
  6. Save the configuration.

You can edit or delete configurations at any time. Use the Refresh button to update the channel list from Slack.

Add Slack from the project header (Quick Add)

You can also add Slack integration directly from within a project.

  1. Open any project.
  2. Click the Integrations button in the project header.
  3. Click on Slack from the dropdown.
  4. Select a Slack channel and choose your notification types.
  5. Click Add Integration.

The integration badge on the project header will show the count of active integrations.

Notification events

When configured, the following events will send notifications to your linked Slack channel:

  • Task Created - When a new task is created in the project.
  • Task Assigned - When a task is assigned to a team member.
  • Task Status Changed - When a task status is updated (e.g., To Do to In Progress).
  • Task Comment - When a comment is added to a task.

Each notification includes task details and a View Task button to quickly navigate to the task in Worklenz.

Slash commands

You can interact with Worklenz directly from Slack using slash commands:

  • /worklenz-task Task name | Project Name - Creates a new task in the specified project.
